Solution

We are trying to help the Share 4 Kids Foundation by getting petition signs from the Pleasanton area and we also wanted to put the petition in a forum to get online signatures. Along with that, it is our belief that everyone deserves a good chance for a basic, proper education and they need the funding for that basic and proper education. If people don't get that proper education then the world won't be in good hands and there is a way to fix this. Michelle Rhee has been working for 18 years to try and get people to convince the state of California to fund the schools more money. The only change up at the state level would be the way the money is distributed. Instead of funding the military, healthcare, and other things, California would give more funds to the schools. This would make it so that all schools can have five day weeks and won't be cut short. Also, this will benefit the teachers because their paychecks will go back to normal and they will be able to support themselves normally again. The schools will no longer have trouble paying the bills and parents won't have to pay money for their kids to go to school. Parents pay large amounts of money to get their kids to go to school in funding and this takes out of the money that parents could use to buy their kids school materials, clothes, and basic necessities. This causes harm every where and also causes the economy to go down. 
There is a way to fix this problem, it isn't a spiraling circle that never gets better. Our group can promote awareness for this problem and get petition signatures. These petition signatures will add on the Michelle Rhee's campaign and get the state to add more funding for the school systems.

Dropout Rates

In some areas of California the high school dropout rates go down so that about 20% of students on average dropout and in the worse areas of California there was a dropout rate as high as 38.4%. The reason that dropout rates get so high is because often the students drop out is because often the students have no reason to stay. If there was school funding that could make incentive to stay in school such as after school activities like sports and clubs that students enjoy, then the dropout rate would lower in high schools. When there is no sports or clubs that they enjoy, if they don’t enjoy the school itself then the student has a higher possibility to dropout. Therefore when schools aren’t funded students dropout causing the dropout rates in California to hit them harder than before.

The Big Problem

Educational Funding is really a big problem especially in California because kids are not getting motivated to come to school with extra curricular activities, sports and such and so there are many more dropouts in high school. Schools are not getting enough funding and that is really the bottom line. Most of the state government’s money comes from taxes and with everyone trying to cut taxes not many people are noticing the problems that will come to the educational system, then there is the federal government that gives most of their money to the armed forces but no one is really paying any attention to the educational system and the children of today who are the people of tomorrow. Here below shows the school funding rates and really where their money comes from.

Our Topic

Our topic is education and the main problem we are adressing is Educational Funding.  We think that this problem because it is not just affecting the teachers and their salaries but the students who are the next generation of America. As a group, we have decided to start with the Pleasanton Unified School District and then expand to the U.S nation after California. We believe that this is an injustice because the decisions that we make today will forever affect the people of the next generation, our kids and grandkids. The reason that we want to solve this problem because we want to give the opportunity for all the children to start their basic education with a fresh start, so they won't miss out on the cultural exposure and every experience possible.
